Approaching Markey's Bar
Walk straight ahead. We're on our way to Markey's Bar now.
Mickey Markey, for whom the park was named, was the original owner, and the bar has stayed in the family since it was opened in 1947. Roy Markey, the current owner, has expanded it to accommodate the change from a working-class neighborhood bar, which used to open at 6 in the morning and close at 10. It now has enough television screens for tourists to find their team on one of them. Often there are crawfish boils or Monday Red Beans, and the doors are usually open until the wee hours.
Keep walking for a bit. We're almost there.
