Weston House on Monterey Peninsula, California audio tour Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fairy Tale Houses Walking Tour

Stop and have a look to your right across Ocean Avenue.

Can you see the red English phone booth on the grounds of Forest Lodge?

    (2 seconds silence)

Just behind the phone booth is a guest room called Weston House. Built in the early 1920s, it was originally known as the Johan Hagemeyer Studio-Gallery and was a meeting place for numerous local and visiting artists. In 1929 Edward Weston moved into this studio and placed a sign in the window that said, “Edward Weston, Photography, Un-retouched Portraits, Prints for Collectors.” Carmel and nearby Point Lobos would become the inspiration for this famed photographers work.

Now, keep going up Ocean Avenue. Turn left at the corner and continue walking.

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
