The small house on your left with the stone chimney is the Storybook Cottage.
Stop for a moment in front of it.
You'll notice that the Storybook Cottage has signature Comstock architectural features such as a high pitched roof, a Carmel stone chimney, hand carved wood window casings, and the rough textured stucco wall cladding.
This property was acquired by Mayotta’s father Thomas M. Browne who built a small structure on the property in 1926.
In 1941 the property was sold to Hugh and Mayotta for $10. That same year, Hugh built a 384 square foot cottage here that consisted of a great room with a fireplace, a kitchen, and small sewing room for Mayotta.
Now, let's continue walking down Santa Fe Street.
