    (3 seconds silence)

Stop here for a moment and I will fill you in on the history of this unique house.

The construction of the Ship House was completed by Allen Knight in 1939. Mr. Knight’s history with Carmel begins around 1910 when he was a young boy and moved to live with his two aunts on Monte Verde and Seventh.

Life in Carmel was a bit too tame for Knight, so he left Carmel and joined the crew of the “Falls of Clyde” and sailed around the Horn. After that he continued his vagabond ways by traveling through the Far East, and Europe. Once he discovered Prague he fell in love with old European architecture and persuaded a hotel owner to give him copies of the blueprints of his hotel.
