Tour Locations | The Mysteries of Milan: From the Duomo to the Royal Palace
This elegant little fountain with the mermaids and dolphins was the first to be built in the city in the late 1700s and for centuries it was the only one. OK so it may not be anywhere near as grand as the Trevi Fountain but I hope you’ll discover that Milan is a city that has so much more than the eye can see if you are prepared to look for its hidden beauty and have a curious disposition.
Standing with the hotel on your left, you’ll see the front of a long pale building ahead. Once the site of the executioner’s house it’s now the headquarters of Milan’s equally fearful traffic wardens.
Now I’m not suggesting you go looking for trouble but when you're ready, exit the fountain and head towards that building using the pedestrian crossing. Then follow the path round to the right. Once you’re at the corner you should stop for a few seconds and turn back to look at the Duomo with the little golden Madonnina on top. It has to be the best view of the cathedral at a distance.
