    Dome of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele

Stop here for a moment in the center of the galleria.

Take a look at the incredible dome above you, made of glass and iron. It was considered an incredible example of a new architecture and one of the most modern and innovative buildings in the world. On the 4 sides of the dome, under the lunettes, you can see some decorations. Try to find the representation of America, Europa, Asia and Africa!

Then take a look at the amazing floor made of different marbles and you can recognize 4 symbols plus one in the centre: the 4 coats of arms of the capitals of Italy and the white flag on a red background, the crest of Savoia family, the family of all the kings of Italy. Coming from piazza Scala the first you find is the red flag symbol of Milan, then on the left the lily of Florence, going on in a circle, the she-wolf and Romolo and Remo for Rome and then a bull on the right. This is Turin's coat of arms, and it is related to a tradition: if you spin on the bull's testicles they say it will bring you good luck!

When you're ready, with your back to the way you came in, walk straight through the Galleria to the exit ahead, towards Piazza Duomo. Feel free to do some window shopping while you walk!

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
