Tour Locations | Oral History Tour of Madrid, NM: The Town Too High To Die
The Pratt House
This is the Pratt House. Sky, Rebecca and Lilly explain why it’s a special place for the early pioneers who brought the town back to life in the 1970’s.
One of the few people in town who has an active claim on a Cerrillos turquoise mine, Riana has been carrying on in her father’s footsteps by mining, crafting, trading and perfecting real authentic turquoise, which can be found in Gypsy Gem: so-called because the shop was originally in Madrid’s Gypsy Plaza. But Madrid suffered a hundred-year flood in 2013, and now Gypsy Gem is located within the old Pratt house.
When finished here, continue about fifteen yards ahead, and your tour will pick up at the photo park.
