Look along the street ahead. Do you see the sign for the Donmar on the left? Yes? That’s one of my favourite theatres in the whole of London. And that’s where I played MacBeth with Judi Dench long ago.
It’s a very small theatre. The actors are extremely close to the audience
It’s a wonderful experience performing so close to your audience. Actors love playing the Donmar and you very rarely see a bad show as a result.
Right next to the Donmar, there’s a building called Thomas Neals. The name’s even printed on the brickwork above the doorway. Thomas Neal was an unusual man. I’ll tell you about him in a moment. But for now, just walk to the end of this street.
