Explore the City's Ancient Alleyways in the Footsteps of Charles Dickens
St Mary Aldermanbury
Let's take a detour through the churchyard on the left. Nip into the park area. Stroll around and take your time looking around the church yard, while I tell you a bit about it.
Although this is nothing to do with Dickens, you might like to hear the connection of this church with two other great Englishmen. The church was bombed in the Second World War and the ruins were transported to Wilton, Missouri. The stones were rebuilt there as a memorial to Winston Churchill. It was there that Churchill had made his famous speech about the Iron Curtain descending over Europe.
When you're done, find your way to the William Shakespeare Statue. I'll meet you there.
