    Fox and Omikuji

Fox and Omikuji on Kyoto audio tour Fushimi Inari Shrine: An In-Depth Guide

Make your way over to the gate on your right.

Do you notice the 4th kind of fox?

Facing the gate, please make a brief stop. The left one is holding a scroll, giving you knowledge.

I've come here hundreds of times, but am still not smart enough.
It's also wabisabi, the beauty of imperfection.

Before you go, you might see some strips of paper tied on ropes or branches of trees on your left. They are called Omikuji, fortune telling paper with written oracles. They are available at the office next to the main hall.
They are also available at most shrines. There are usually 7 types of fortune described in Omikuji, but it could vary depending on the shrine.
You'd be happy or disappointed depending on the one you get, but the level of luck is not the most important thing here, because there are ups and downs in life, it tells you which state you are at, and gives you a message from God, You can reflect it in your life, and live positively.
You can either bring it back with you so you can remember the message, or you can tie it in the shrine so the God can give you blessing to your fortune. You can also have a link to the shrine by tying it.

Make your way through the gate and up the steps. Then turn right and head towards the next gate.

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
