    Continue On Micka

You should be through the intersection. Continue on straight on Micka road, the road you've been traveling on.

Scarface Charley - remember him? - after he and Boutelle shot at each other and missed, Charley took off in the commotion to actually warn other settlers. Word eventually got to John Fairchild, the long-time friend to the Modoc, who started to worry about the safety of the Hot Creek Modocs living near him, since the Hot Creek were - as of yet - not involved. This is where my great grandfather, Shacknasty Jim, comes in.

If you recall, Shacknasty Jim was a Hot Creek Modoc, a group of about 14 men and thirty women and children. They lived on the Fairfield and Presley Dorris ranches. The Hot Creeks had little in common with Captain Jack's people and didn't want to become embroiled in a fight. Frankly, I don't think they believed Captain Jack had much of a chance against the forces that were about to come down on him. So after the Battle at Lost River, the Hot Creeks asked John Fairchild to step in.
