Kirkenes: The City between East and West
Port of Kirkenes
It’s a pleasure for me to welcome you to Kirkenes – maybe the most international city in Norway, as its location is close to the Russian border. If you're near to or passing through the entrance gate to the port terminal then you're in the right place to start this tour.
I will take you on a 20 minute walk from the port to the center of Kirkenes, telling you the story of the city.
By the way, my name is Lars. Thank you for using VoiceMap as your guide in Kirkenes.
Are you ready to get started? Ok, position yourself with your back to the port, so that you have the warehouse buildings on your left, and the large bus parking lot on your right.
Start walking straight up the road now.
While you walk, I'll briefly explain how VoiceMap works.
If you’re not familiar with VoiceMap, let me tell you how it works. VoiceMap uses your location to play audio automatically, at the right time and place. This means that you can put your phone away now. Don't worry if I'm silent for a while, when I'm not giving directions or telling stories. There's a map on your screen if you ever feel lost, and if you do get way off track without noticing, VoiceMap will let you know.
Keep going, I'll meet you further ahead.
