A Walk through Keene's History
We've reached the last stop of the tour.
Have a look at the building across the street, the one behind the fence.
That's the Wyman Tavern. It is known as one of the most historical buildings in Cheshire County. It was built in 1762. Isaac Wyman and his family operated it for 40 years. In 1770, the trustees of Dartmouth College had their first meeting here. Keene's Minutemen met here on April 22, 1770 to march to Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts to help fight in the Revolutionary War. Now the house is a museum.
This is the end of the tour. Thank you for listening. We hope you learned some interesting facts and enjoyed the stories of Keene's history.
