A Walk through Keene's History
Stop here for a moment at the corner.
The large brick building on your left is the front of the Russell Block. This building was made for Charles E Russell in 1895. The Keene post office was located here from 1896 to 1911. The Ashuelot Citizens National Bank bought this block in 1924 and stayed until 1962. Keene Savings Bank operated here until the mid 1980s. It is currently a jewelry shop.
When you're ready, cross the street ahead over to Central Square.
