A Walk through Keene's History
Turn left onto Court Street and continue walking towards Winter Street.
While you walk, look across the street at the large red brick building. This is the old Court House.
The building was built in 1858 and was named to the national register of historic places in 1978. Have a look at the artistic brick work around the windows and the beautiful copper cupola on top of the building. There is also a weather vane on top of the cupola.
In 2013 the county court house moved across the street. This old Cheshire County Courthouse building now has offices. It is also an up and coming location for arts, entertainment, gatherings, community meetings, and educational and cultural presentations.
Keep walking towards Winter Street.
