    The model houses

Stay here and look across the street to your right at the little restaurant "La Renaissance".

Five successive urban planners sent by the king made plans of the city and they also conceived a standard house. That was a small building with a simple façade right next to the street with small openings to keep noise and dust outside, just like this little restaurant. On the ground floor, there were large arches with windows and an entrance door for shops of bakers, butchers, grocery stores, clothing boutiques, workshops of craftsmen, restaurants, etc. Behind was the back office which was also the living room and kitchen for the family. On top of it, there were one or two, sometimes three floors where the families lived and underneath the roof a granary for storing goods. And behind the houses… ah, I’ll show you soon.

Now, turn so that the supermarket is on your left, and cross the street at the pedestrian crossing to stand in front of the bank, looking up the street from where the tramway comes down.
