    To the Gold Souk

    Take a left up ahead.

Just around the corner, at the end of the street, you'll see an imposing wooden archway. It’s one entrance to the Gold Souk. Make your way over to it now.

As you get closer, you’ll see the words "Dubai City of Gold" in gold letters at the top of the arch.

The labyrinthine alleyways and carved wooden roofs of the Dubai Gold Souk haven't changed much since the early 1900s. What has changed is its incredible size and scope. Over the years, the souk has expanded from about 400 square metres to cover an area more than two kilometres wide and three kilometres long.

The covered marketplace here is its heart.
