    Boys Playing “Ring Game”

Stop here for a minute, and look back to your left. You'll see a mural of young Emirati boys playing a game known simply as the “ring game” in their traditional white kandoras. It's by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic.

The “ring game” was popular with Emirati children who grew up during the early years of the union – and for many of them, it’s a nostalgic reminder of simpler times. Lots of adults remember passing the hours playing improvised games like this during their childhoods, in a time before any modern-day entertainments.

Okay, let’s carry on. We’re crossing over 2nd of December Street just ahead.
