Metro Moments: New Dubai from the Burj Khalifa
Welcome to Dubai – and our tour today. In a few minutes we’ll embark on a whirlwind journey that explores the excitement of new Dubai, with its future-forward modernity. You’ll hear stories of artists, acrobats, architects and amusement parks, alongside the essentials of Emirati history and local hospitality.
For now, we just want to run through a few important details.
First of all, you should be in the Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall metro station.
That’s where our journey starts. You’ll also need a metro ticket. If you’re going to be in Dubai for a few days, we recommend getting a rechargeable Nol card. If you load it up with a Gold Class ticket – or just buy a Gold Class single – you’ll be able to sit at the front of the train, where big windows offer the best views. Just pause this tour for a minute while you get your ticket.
Right then! Let’s begin. Find your way over to the platform with DMCC bound trains.
When you board the train, keep an eye out for the Women and Children Only sections. These are marked with pink banners. Also remember that the metro is a food and drink free environment. And don’t worry if you just miss a train. They come along every couple of minutes.
This VoiceMap tour uses your location to play audio automatically, at the right time and place. Put your phone away if you like, and focus on your surroundings. You don’t need to press anything. But short periods of silence along the way are normal.
When you’re ready, board the metro. You’ll hear from me again when we leave the station.
