Point of Departure - Siege of Derry and Ulster Scots on Derry / Londonderry audio tour Derrie Danders: A Guide to the Quayside and North City

You are now approaching another of the timber point of departure blocks.
Stop beside it for a moment.

This one is a point of entry for Scots people who came to the city after the 1688/89 siege of Derry. It should be noted that there has been a constant stream of migration between Ireland and Scotland for thousands of years, though many consider the Plantation of Ulster from 1600's to be the most significant period.

Now keeping the timber block on your left, walk into the Sainsbury's supermarket car park along the pathway ahead. The route is along a marked pedestrian pathway, but please be careful and watch for out for traffic.

I'll meet you shortly in the centre of the car park.
