Foyle Embankment - The Peace Bridge
Please stop at the Embankment.
Opened in 2011 just before the city became the UK's city of culture in 2013, the Peace Bridge has now become one of the iconic images of the city, as well as being a very useful way for pedestrians and cyclists to make their way from the city centre to the Waterside area of the city.
If you have visited Liverpool in England, you may be aware of the large buildings alongside the River Mersey nicknamed the Three Graces, including the Liver Building.
If you look behind you, I like to say that those are the "Derry's Three Graces", albeit less dramatic than Liverpool's.
Namely from left the Guildhall, then the Customs House and then the Post Office Building.
Now turn left and start walking on the pathway along the Quay with the river on your right.
When you see 2 paths, always walk on the narrower one on the right, as the wider left path is usually restricted for cyclists only.
As we walk along the quay, keep a look out ahead of you on the river, as the Foyle Bridge will start to come into view.
I'll meet you again close to the City Hotel.
