After turning, look to your right. You’ll see a large earthen berm that curves away. The Tevatron tunnel sits twenty to thirty feet below the berm. The Tevatron was the world's most powerful accelerator for more than 25 years. It was used for a number of discoveries, including the discovery of the top quark, the heaviest fundamental particle we know of. The two main detectors on the Tevatron were called CDF and DZero, each of which had about 600 collaborators.
