The White Company
You're heading towards The Cross. The White Company shop is on your right — mind the cobblestones.
These modern shops were once the grand townhouses of the rich, landed gentry of Chester in past times. Many date from the 16th and 17th centuries when Chester was hub for commerce and ships sailed right up the River Dee to dock at the bottom of modern-day Watergate Street.
The manager of the White Company shop, like many of the modern-day shopkeepers, has reported episodes of poltergeist activity in the upper-floor stockroom. These old buildings, as you will learn, often house ancient stories and spirits. It's nearly time to meet the first one!
