    Along the City Walls

    You are following Chester's famous city walls, built by the Romans to encircle the garrison town. There is currently a preservation project to care for the walls after land slippage — hence the interpretation boards.

    If you look behind to your left, you will see the white-marble facade of the restaurant, Opera Grill. This former Methodist Chapel was regularly visited by the shadowy figure of the monk from St John's Church.
