    Sundial

Philip: In the distance, you can see Lion's Head. The peak acts as a reliable weather forecaster. If it’s covered by clouds, rain isn’t far away.

And to you left, quite far off the track, you’ll see a sundial. Sundials are maps of the sun's position in the celestial sphere that have been used for thousands of years, since humans first realised that the length of shadows varies throughout the course of the day, and are shortest at noon. It was only a small step from this insight to the concept of measuring time.

Go over and read the instructions if you like. You can check out the time by seeing where your shadow falls.

Otherwise keep walking along this path.
