Cape Town on Foot: Castle to Slave Lodge
Oldest church tower
Stop at the sturdy iron gates on your right and look down the little alley.
Can you see a church tower squashed between the main church building and a 1950s face-brick building? This is the country’s oldest church tower. In 1771 its height was increased and a clock was installed. This clock was made in Amsterdam and originally had quarterly chimes.
Now continue walking straight. I'll meet you at the main gates of the church.
