Cape Town on Foot: Castle to Slave Lodge
Along Darling Street
Good job! Now keep the Grand Parade on your right and continue walking straight.
The street on your left is Darling Street and was named after a British Governor of the mid 1850s. But it already existed in the 1690s and boasted a narrow canal, like many other streets in the town at that time. It was called the Emperor’s Canal or Keisers Gragt by the early settlers.
