Baz'Art Salt River Street Art Tour
The bird, the water drop and the Mexican god
Once you're near the corner up ahead look to your right and you'll see the next piece, a collaboration by renowned artists Mariana Palomino from Spain and Christina Naverette from Mexico. Wait here while I tell you about this mural.
Mariana and Christina felt it was fitting to share something from Mexico in solidarity for the Cape Town water crisis.
During the IPAF festival, Cape Town was experiencing a water crisis that led to drastic cuts in the daily supply of water.
So in this piece, the water droplet is used to portray the significance of saving every single drop.
The Mexican mask on the right is from the state of Guerrero and is worn in a traditional Mexican dance to represent a petition for rain.
The Mexican mocking bird on the left simply portrays the personality and culture of the duo.
Lets get moving now.
Turn left at the corner up ahead and keep going. I'll meet you a further on along the road.
