43 Residents Get Evicted
Continue straight. On your left is a row of houses. All 43 of the residents here are getting evicted, including 19 children.
In 2014, a property developer called the Woodstock Hub bought the row of houses. They own several properties in Woodstock, and plan to develop the houses next to you into middle-income residential complexes.
The residents maintain that it was impossible to communicate with the Woodstock Hub just after the properties were transferred. They didn't know who the new owner was, and didn't know where to pay rent. There was no contact information online, and when they went to their local subcouncil, the properties were apparently still in the old owner’s name. They have speculated that this was a tactic to use against them in court.
