• LOCATION 1 | La Macarena to Parque Nacional

    El Patio

Welcome to this tour of the Centro Internacional de Bogotá, the international center of Bogota.

My name is Néstor Meléndez, and I will be your guide through this very special zone of my city.

You should be standing outside the wooden facade of El Patio, the restaurant just off the corner of the street. Its a very popular eatery and was one of the first to start the gastronomic trend in La Macarena. That is the neighborhood you are currently in.

We'll make our way through beautiful neighborhoods. Along the way we'll see iconic landmarks, lovely parks, a vibrant open commercial mall and recommend eateries and restaurants. We'll end the tour at the breathtaking Parque Nacional.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

    Lets get going.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

With your back to El Patio, turn left and start walking down the street, keeping the mountains on your left.

VoiceMap uses GPS to play audio at each location, so you can put your phone away now. I'll tell you where to go, so just follow my directions. There will be areas of silence, but that means we are just in between locations.

La Macarena is the bohemian place to be. Its where the artists feel at home. It was built for the middle class in the 1950s and 60s. They didn’t want to go further north or to the west of the city because they wanted to be near downtown Bogotá.
By the way, north is behind you and west is to your right.

Keep walking. You'll hear more about La Macarena at the next location.

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
