La Macarena to Parque Nacional
This area, the centro internacional, was built in the late 1950s.
Look to your left. Can you see the large red brick building?
[1.5 SECOND PAUSE]
Thats the hotel Tequendama. Its been an emblematic hotel of the city since it opened. It has a very nice lobby in a retro style and a splendorous large mural depicting the myths and legends of the region's indigenous people, the Chibchas.
The building's commercial complex houses shops that sell everything from emeralds and fine jewellery to souvenirs and clothing. It also has great restaurants.
The urban design of this zone permits commercial and business use as well as residential apartments. The whole area has recently been refurbished with an urbanist intervention. This has given privilege to pedestrians and cyclists.
Keep walking straight.
