Historic Abbey Quarter on Bath audio tour Walk the Highlights of Medieval Bath

Let's stop here for a moment.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

Turn so the Crystal Palace pub is on your right and the 200-year-old London Plane tree is in front of you. Dominating these cobbled streets, this was the bishop's palace and gardens during the time of the great French Norman cathedral of 1000 years ago and its Gothic replacement church of 500 years later.

However, with King Henry the Eight's break from the Catholic Church and his subsequent acquisition of the church's wealth in this country, in what became known as the Dissolution of the Monasteries, this area was returned to normal secular use.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

Now, continue around to the right and walk to the end of Abbey Street and I'll meet you at the junction with York Street.

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
